REGIONAL DESIGN CENTER PLANNING & DESIGN ENGINEER:

Responsible for documenting all commercial and cell tower sites for the Greater Boston Region (GBR) & Western New England Region (WNER).  Originally brought in to catch up on the commercial backlog.

By maintaining strategic and operational partnerships with multiple groups within the Engineering, Construction, and Operations organization. 

Results: Completed 2 years of commercial & cell tower backlog in less than 1 year.

REGIONAL MANAGER – NODE SPLITS:

Directed and managed the Node Split Program for the Beltway Region within the Northeast Division.  Regional face to divisional engineering leadership for node splits.  Changed from being ranked fifth (last) to first (top producing) region in 6 months.

Re-engineered and defined how inter-departments interact with the node split process              (90 day cycle – proactive and not reactive) for capacity driven node splits.  The program includes the approval of all steps from identifying the node to split working with the capacity group and why by using capacity tools.  Provided leadership from design to construction (both field and head-end) for the node split, to the final node move within the hub to different service groups, including any hub pull backs. 

By maintaining strategic and operational partnerships and foresight in future node splits positioning the next quarter.  Partnered with all vendors and developed procurement readiness.

Responsible for developing budget and month to month forecast/outlook of capital spending, and production, including facilitating area meetings across the region.

Results: Refocus on node splits changed from being ranked 4^th out of 4 to first – Top performing region within the division and one of the largest in size (5 states) across the company.  The regional face to Division for node splits.  Developed the node plus zero 96 node rack elevation/design and eventually to the redesign. Contributed to new headend standards.  Contributed in the development of the Divisional Node Split Database.

ACTING EAST REGION SPECTRUM MANAGER:

Responsible for developing and maintaining spectrum plans for the East Region, covering the Carolina’s, New York, including NYC Market, and New England.  Working with all regional and divisional departments to collect, analyze, and report spectrum usage and develop future plans covering more than 220 different lineups.  Develop project plans while working with the local engineering groups for new product launches or expanding existing spectrum usage for added services, including the development D3 Frequency expansion plans.  Tracking of upstream spectrum use and testing results working with other regional project groups. 

Developed a Spectrum SharePoint Database that will tie spectrum usage by type to the corporate programming database for efficiencies and streamlining.  Then link the Digital Video group’s data, instead of trying to maintain numerous (220+) working files. 

In support, develop reports as needed covering other items like MDN/ODN analysis for upgrades, and review for next generation technologies and its effect on the network by establishing migration strategies.

ENGINEERING MANAGER:

Responsible for cataloging, developing, and overseeing all inside plant (headend/hub) documentation from the RTN (Regional Transport Network) to DTN (Divisional Transport Network), and its correlation to local outside plant.  With concentration on all router/switches, commercial, and cell tower connections/services.

Working with all departments to better understand their business needs in order to develop and implement the RFC (Request for Change) process that includes the DNOC (Division) and RNOC (regional) for all networking aspects for digital video, data, and voice; including all commercial and CBH accounts. Granite SME for Division.

Successful launch of 100 HD’s and the NGN (Next Generation Network) in 2009. 

 

SENIOR CONSTRUCTION MANAGER:

Responsible for all construction and engineering for a multi-state environment.  Lead for all capital development and forecasting, and project management. 

Oversaw all engineering and construction for the Adelphia upgrade & transition into the TWC environment, including commercial fiber and hub consolidations projects within the division. 

Defining the OSP Design Engineering Process through detailing all design engineering functions including head-end, permitting/ROW, design, QA, release of projects to construction, construction management and support for all special projects within the New England Division.

Directed engineering operations for 21,000 miles, 153 franchises, and 2.1 million homes passed.  Primarily responsible for developing and directed design implementation for 18,000 mile,        1.7 million home upgrade of existing networks to a full service telecommunications platform, offering digital video, high-speed data, digital phone, and other targeted services. 

Design engineering planning process and engineering analysis of multi-state, multi-office, and multi-vendor operations.  Additional responsibilities for cost analysis, material forecasting, project scopes, and annual capital budget preparation with monthly/quarterly production and financial reporting.  Financial analysis, research and development regarding identification & evaluation of HFC and fiber-rich architectures, new products, and services for deployment.

Results: Best unit in company to produce more homes with less capital.  Corporate recommended as the one to go to for design engineering consultation to other regions.  Saved an average of 17% on capital expenditure over $1M savings in 1 year.  Developed and authored outside plant design engineering policies and procedures, technical standards, engineering manuals, and best-fit architecture matrix.  Wrote design specifications that was measured to within 1-2 dB in the field.  Development of GIS infrastructure design/mapping application, served as design admin. Voted Best System (region) in 2006 (WA) and 2009 (OR).
